| DESIGN NAME: Babyfirst Q R943 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Baby Car Seat INSPIRATION: Inspired by the elegant motion of spreading wings, this seat design features the backrest flanks that support dynamic stepless rotation, opening outward like a bird stretching its wings to shield its young. This flexible feature not only offers personalized comfort, but also guarantees maximum safety for children aged from 3 to 12 years, well accommodating their varying body sizes and heights. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Weighing just 5.8kg, equivalent to about 12.8lbs, the Q R943 is incredibly lightweight and can be effortlessly folded down to a compact size in just two steps. This feature makes it convenient to stow in the boot and carry on the go. With its backrest flanks supporting dynamic stepless rotation and the headrest offering 11 adjustable heights, the Q R943 can flexibly adapt to different heights and body sizes of children aged from 3 to 12 years, keeping them snug and secure throughout every trip. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This baby car seat weighs only 5.8kg, equivalent to about 12.8lbs, and has a handle design, making it easy for an average female user to lift with one hand. When not in use, it can fit snugly in the boot, occupying only one third of its original size by folding inwards both sides of the headrest and then folding down the backrest. The dynamic stepless rotation of its backrest flanks works with 11 adjustable heights of its headrest, flexibly accommodating children varying in body size and height. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design and development of the Q R943 spanned from August, 2021 to September, 2022 in Ningbo. It was introduced to the market in October, 2022. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: 1.Dual patented folding technologies make folding and carrying a breeze. 2.The integrated side protection system combines TPE for pressure relief, slow rebound sponge, and EPP material to enhance side impact protection. 3.The back pad design is molded into one piece via high frequency heat pressing, and the 4D silicone seat part offers breathable and supportive properties. 4.Crash tests with dummies and based on CAE analysis validate the strength of this seat and its ability to minimize injuries. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 440*465*665mm TAGS: Baby Car Seat, Folding Design, Portable, Grow with Children, Spine Protection RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design team identified several limitations in the current baby car seat market through extensive research. Firstly, the fixed structure and the difficulty in disassembling and assembling make the seats rather inconvenient to stow in a car boot when not in use, inevitably taking up much space in a car cabin. Secondly, most of them only cater to a specific age group, necessitating parents to frequently repurchase seats as their children grow and resulting in resource wastage. CHALLENGE: The primary challenge encountered during the design of the Q R943 was to minimize the space occupied when it is not in use, whilst enhancing storage convenience and portability. To overcome these issues, the Q R943 incorporates a lightweight design, backrest flanks that support dynamic stepless rotation, and an optimized construction that can be quickly folded in just two steps. These features make storing or taking the seat along on every trip a breeze.
