| DESIGN NAME: Blocks Socks PRIMARY FUNCTION: Visual Design INSPIRATION: Inspired by her childhood memory of comfortable materials in Luzhou, Sichuan, China, Yutong Xie created Blocks Socks' visual direction with soft dye made sustainably and organic materials harvested from Southern China. This is a concept product to spread awareness of sustainable fashion and the importance of community business. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: BLOCKS SOCKS Blocks Socks is a concept socks brand designed by visual artist Yutong Xie. The concept is to design with sustainable comfort and customizable styles. The brand is to offer quality design production made in China. The company aim to source from local farms and communities for quality materials. Starting from the basics, Blocks Sock will continue to offer comfortable fashion with sustainable practice. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Blocks Socks has a package design system that offers the customer to mix and match socks based on their own likings. You can buy Blocks Socks by the individual or the pair or the combo. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2019 and finished in August 2019. The visual art research is personal design for international culture. Artist is inspired by the mixture of the languages, melting of the worlds. CHALLENGE: The challenge is to express sustainable philosophy to the international customers. Starting by using both Chinese and English as part of the visual art elements on the socks, the company wants to source organic materials and the recycled package from southern China.
