| DESIGN NAME: B. League All-Star Game 2023 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Op Art INSPIRATION: The clue to this design came from Othello, a board game that originated in Mito, the host city of the B.League All-Star Game 2023. We wondered if we could create a visual that would make the audience of the All-Star Game go crazy, based on the motif of the grid-shaped Othello board and circular pieces that all Japanese are familiar with, and came up with a rotating representation of colorful buildings symbolizing Mito and portraits of players based on the above shape. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: B.League is the premier basketball league in Japan. Op Art is an abstract painting calculated to create a special visual effect. Each square depicts a visual image related to basketball or a building or landmark symbolic of Mito, the host city of the games. The animations are so full of movement that the eye cannot keep up with them. The audience was drawn into an exciting and immersive state of mind. Two league splits, the suspension of the Japan Basketball Association (JBA) from international qualification, and a string of team failures... The Japanese basketball world, which had been unable to envision the future, dawned in the fall of 2016 with the opening of a new professional basketball league. Governance functions with the JBA at the top, improvement of the player playing environment, regional revitalization through arena utilization, enhancement of competitive power, and establishment of a new professional sport utilizing digital technology. We, the basketball family in Japan, are united in our efforts to further develop the basketball world with the inauguration of the "New Professional Basketball League. |
