PRIMARY FUNCTION: Digital Public Art Installation
INSPIRATION: Water forms Suzhou city transportation, its’ renowned parks and landscapes, its‘ trading and history as well as its’ culture and spirit, the counterpart of it is Venice.
Suzhou's silk and textiles have been prestigious for thousands of years because of their exquisiteness. Just like Suzhou's other cutting-edge innovative industries, their production power and quality are incomparable. Silk also symbolize the city’s quality.
Shape: A curve dashing up reflecting Suzhou vitality.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: “Fluid Horizon Series Silique" is one piece of digital public art installation that combines lighting, interaction, and physical materials. It glamorizes the urban landscape as well as interacting and connecting with viewers. It is one site specific art installation dedicated for Suzhou, China, taking silk and water as the image to embody the culture of Suzhou.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: When people come approach, the correspond light strips lights up, and the starry sky lights and water pattern lights rotate, embracing people into water.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The installation is consists if steel wire frames and 2 different kinds of textiles.
Steel boards on ground cover wires and radar.
16 radars are connected to 16 light strips, 16 starry sky lights and water pattern lights, which are linked with the hydrological information of Taihu Lake.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This project is the first chapter of FY.LUOBO’s long-term project collection. It adopts the perspectives of Materiality and Geo-sociology, along with the Chinese epistemology of “Knowing from Inspecting”. By showing how materials shape human beings and regional cultures, we expect to bring out people's attention, perception, and connection to materials and their present regions
In this creation we selected silk and water to embody the city's spirit.
CHALLENGE: 1- Construction of this large scale installation in 1 week.
2- Prototyping with materials and shapes to find the perfect combination
3- Light testings.
