INSPIRATION: Driven by global energy policies, the market share for electric vehicles has risen rapidly. Due to the lack of charging infrastructure, low motor noise, high motor torque and extra weight, EV drivers are mostly concerned about range, tire noise and frequent tire replacements. Victra Sport EV is engineered to address these concerns and improves energy efficiency, tire noise, and tread life. Victra Sport EV also supports rapid EV growth by providing a better driving experience.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Victra Sport EV is a tire specially designed for electric vehicles and focuses on meeting three goals: improving energy efficiency, reducing unwanted noise and prolonging tread life. The Victra Sport EV integrates a new-generation rubber compound, Maxxis sound-absorbing foam technology and Maxxis optimized footprint technology to provide drivers with an elevated EV driving experience.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Victra Sport EV uses high-strength casing and a pattern design which helps to harness the high-torque electric motors in EVs. The extra strength also delivers sharper response and stability, improving the overall EV driving experience. The new highly dispersed nanotechnology helps to reduce electricity consumption by 13% per kilometer travelled, thus reducing range anxiety. The optimized pitch arrangement and sound-absorbing foam technology deliver a serene driving experience.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Victra Sport EV had launched in May 2022 in Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: 1. High-dispersion nanotechnology and a high-strength pattern design reduce rolling resistance and improve energy efficiency for maximum driving range. 2. Optimized pitch arrangement and a closed shoulder design minimize discomfort from tire pattern noise. Sound-absorbing foam technology further reduces cabin noise, ensuring a serene and comfortable driving experience. 3. Contact Shape Tech and a New EV Compound maximize tread mileage, ensuring a longer service life.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Most tires for internal combustion vehicles are not a great match for an EV’s performance envelope and will erode some of the environmental benefits of driving an EV. Maxxis’ design team created the Victra Sport EV using various innovative optimization technologies, sparking great interest at trade shows and among the automotive aftermarket industry. The Victra Sport EV’s innovative design has also drawn the attention of competitors, and Maxxis hopes that the Victra Sport EV will push the entire industry forward.
CHALLENGE: To meet increasingly stringent regulations and pivot toward sustainable mobility, the engineering team balanced performance metrics with improved energy efficiency, tire noise and wear resistance. Through many rounds of design and testing, Maxxis engineers developed a high-strength pattern with optimized pitch sequencing that worked in harmony with the newly developed EV compound. This breakthrough allows the Victra Sport EV to further enhance the performance of EVs and also achieve outstanding results in EU regulatory certification testing.
