DESIGN NAME: Kanpai
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Citrus Liqueur
INSPIRATION: Taichung City serves as the largest planting area of citrus fruits in Taiwan. However, there is barely any citrus liqueur made by local produce. Therefore a newly developed processing skill was developed to create this brand new product, named after "Kansai" (means Bottoms Up in Chinese) to call for a celebration.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The geometric images of citrus tankan & ponkan are retrieved to form the main icons of Kansai packaging design. The texture of citrus skin is presented upon the printing skills of partial glazing and punching.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Chill, Twist-off and Kanpai.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project commenced in May 2022 and completed by October 2022 in Taichung City. The marketing activities were launched in December 2022.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This project is conducted based on Design Research in order to generate the most desirable result via repeating design modification based on sample consumers' feedbacks in various surveys. The sample slots were selected from higher education institutes, local community centres and on-line survey sources. The results suggest a strategy to retrieve the citrus geometric elements and colour as the two major elements in packaging design.
CHALLENGE: As the agricultural products are comparatively cheaper in retail pricing, the major task in this packaging design is to promote the product identity and corresponding pricing policy.
