DESIGN NAME: Centrestage 2022
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Event Organiser Space
INSPIRATION: Centrestage is a premium event for discovering Asia’s latest upcoming fashion brands. Under its central theme, Inclusion and Diversity, with an emphasis on authentic self-expression, projecting a common goal of enabling visitors to express their bold imagination through beauty and aesthetics.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The annual event Centrestage consists of 6665 m2 exhibition space, asked for a multifunctional introductory space design to uplift the overall ambiance of the show. The space was used for opening receptions, fashion presentations as well as an introductory experience area in default mode.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The first impression of the Inclusion and Diversity concept starts with motion graphic on a large Naked eyes curved LED outside the concourse entry. After that we will enter the world of the Metaverse. The simulated images wearing different clothes through VR allows the experience to be even more authentic. And the 2 layers of circular LED screens with a spherical screen create a selfie-taking holding area. The next of the introductory space featuring a set of playful seating and supersize lettering of Centrestage as a backdrop, and a large LED screen corner is an audio-visual spatial experience in default mode, otherwise it can be hired out for open receptions, fashion branding lectures. The next section is the multi-functional area Miniverse, a large projection screen and 4 sets suspended TVs will show the mini fashion parades branding and the event presentations. Moreover, we also
create a AR experience area, which is cooperate with Microsoft, a large curved LED screen 0to brought the visitors to a whole new experience of looking at the presence and visioning on the Metaverse.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The duration for the project took 3 months from initial briefing to onsite completion. It was launched on the 9th of September 2022 and ran for 3 days. Centrestage was located at the Hong Kong Conference and Exhibition Centre HKCEC in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Due to the tight 3-day set up, all items were prefabricated and tested off site prior to being reassembled onsite. These includes the Naked eyes LED wall, 2 layers of hanging circular LED screens with sphere Led ball. All the walls were made from reusable aluminium structural frames covered with perforated sheet and color panel with LED lighting tube deco finish. And The interactive game columns, which is covered with mirror finish, Led running sign and LED screens were hired. To be more sustainable in the overall production biodegradable carpets was used.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Outside the Hall entry sits a 6mW. x 3.5mH. Naked eyes curved LED screen, to create an incredible 3-dimensional image. The walls are cladded with color perforated sheet and LED tubes with LED running sign. When inside the hall, 15mW. x 36mL. x 7mH. Introductory space with 2 layers of circular LED screens with a diameter of 5.5m and 4m are suspended in the middle space, which related to a 1.5mDia. spherical screen on the semi-glossy platform on the ground. Also, 3 sets of the interactive game column in 2.4mDia. were placed in this experience space, a 1.5mW x 2.5mH. curved LED screen with sensor were hired. At the rear wall, an attractive video is adopted in the 16mW x 5mH. LED Wall followed by LED neon lit hanging TV deco completed the journey.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The Inclusion and Diversity showcases fashion brands and designs from around the world that represent different concepts, styles, cultures, races, age groups and genders. Echoing the global trend to embrace and reconcile differences, the show strives to break the stereotypes by exposing viewers to various perceptions of aesthetics.
A celebration of efforts and creativity to address the needs of socially and culturally diverse communities, the three-day spectacle seeks to promote discussion on inclusive design practices that will bring about meaningful changes in the industry and beyond.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was translating the Inclusion and Diversity with Metaverse concept into a spatial design. Through research to create a virtual fashion show and installation within the metaverse. Design a series of stunning outfits using 3D software and showcase them on audience. And use sound effects, interactive elements, and special lighting to create an unforgettable experience for visitor. Moreover, the spatial experience design was completed by a series of bespoke videos content highlighting various fashion inspiration.
