| DESIGN NAME: Isotopetc PRIMARY FUNCTION: Electric Toothbrush INSPIRATION: As a travel enthusiast, I have had my fair share of struggles finding the perfect toothbrush for my outdoor adventures. Despite my deep knowledge of electric toothbrushes, I found that many on the market were bulky and unappealing, with sets that resembled glasses cases. So, I set out to design my own toothbrush that would be portable, stylish, and cool-looking. And with my passion and expertise, I created a unique electric toothbrush that perfectly fits my needs as a traveler. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The S1 Electric Toothbrush is a small, portable and innovative toothbrush that provides an efficient, all-round cleaning experience. Its integrated design includes a charging base with UV disinfection, replaceable brush heads, and a tongue coating brush for comprehensive oral hygiene. The S1's curved design make it unique and superior to other electric toothbrushes. It is made with environmentally friendly materials and is easy to carry, making it perfect for outdoor and business use. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Portable toothbrush set S1 is really easy to use. Simply press the power button and the brush will start vibrating. The brush head is specially designed to clean your teeth effectively and the vibrations help to remove plaque and keep your teeth healthy. The toothbrush is also portable and lightweight, making it perfect for travelers who want to keep their teeth clean while on the go. The compact size and stylish design make it a great addition to any travel kit. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This design initiative is scheduled to commence in January of 2022 and is expected to debut in the marketplace by September of 2023. While the plan to showcase the product at the European and American Design Exhibition in 2024 has been considered, a decision has yet to be reached on this matter. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Electric toothbrush was designed using advanced CAD software and 3D printing technology. We tested multiple materials to find the optimal combination of durability and portability. The toothbrush features an efficient motor, providing a deep clean with minimal noise. The toothbrush is easily charged via USB. Our design team utilized a user-centered approach, incorporating feedback from early adopters to improve the functionality and usability of the toothbrush. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The electric toothbrush has an elliptical cross-section with a major axis of 40.3mm and a minor axis of 27mm. The length of the toothbrush is 270mm. The weight of the toothbrush is 212 grams. The brush head has a diameter of 15mm and is made of high-quality DuPont bristles. The toothbrush is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 800mAh, which can last for up to 30 days on a single charge. The toothbrush can produce up to 36,000 brush strokes per minute. The methodology included online surveys, focus groups, and interviews with 200 participants. The insights led to the development of a lightweight, compact toothbrush with a sleek design. The research has implications for improving oral hygiene and business innovation. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge of this design activity was to create a toothbrush that was both portable and stylish, while maintaining its functionality. I had to overcome obstacles such as finding the right materials that were durable yet lightweight, designing the toothbrush head to effectively clean teeth. I had to consider external factors such as production costs and regulations. Through thorough research and experimentation, I was able to overcome these challenges and create a successful design.
