DESIGN NAME: Dualad
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Advertising Multimedia Kiosk
INSPIRATION: The main inspiration for DualAd came from willingness to unite modern design with new technology for delightful user experience in multimedia kiosks.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: DualAd multimedia kiosk was designed in order to bring unique experience for visitors of different locations as commercial galleries, retail outlets, public places or museums. The distinguishing marks of DualAd are the sculptural shape and warm texture. The cautiously crafted device looks thinner than it actually is, thus it fits harmoniously into different architectural environments.
The sustainability was brought in the heart of the design process as the device housing is made of durable solid surface, acrylic material that makes it durable and, in case of slight damage, is easily repairable.
The key requirement was an easy access the touchscreen by wheelchairs for people with disability which was realized by ergonomical design approach.
DualAd kiosk makes accents in public spaces with its unpretentious appearance.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: DualAd works very smoothly for advertising and wayfinding. The presentation 55 inches screen is used for advertising where the scheduled content is broadcasted. The 27 inches touchscreen is used as information point with interactive map for navigation or customer relation management on spot.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Our project of DualAd started in March 2022 with a simple sketch on the paper during discussion about needs of our customer, operator of commercial gallery in Poland. It was designed and prototyped in four months time. Since then it has been implemented for three big shopping malls in Poland.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The project started with a simple sketch on the paper during discussion about needs of our customer. We defined the two key priorities for the device that were double sided information kiosk with presentation screen for advertising and another touch screen for navigation.
The choice of materials was focused on its sustainability with an acrylic, solid surface cover to bring antibacterial and easy-maintenance feature as well as soft touch for users. The technology components were made of best in class 10-point multi-touch screens.
Moreover DualAd was proudy designed and made in Poland, Europe.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The kiosk housing is made of acrylic, solid surface material.
DualAd multimedia kiosk is made of two parts,
A: advertisng kiosk combining 55" presentation screen
B: wayfinder kiosk composed of 27" ten-point capacitive touch screen that ensure very fast responsive speed.
The device measurements are 190 cm in height and 93 cm in width. The depth may vary from its thinnest part of 17 cm up to 57 cm when the navigation screen is fixed.
The construction can be firmly anchored to the floor or fixed on stainless-steel foot that make it stand-alone.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Regarding to client's needs we were analyzing the dimensions of DualAd so that it brings ergonomy and delightful customer experience while the device in use. We were checking the kiosks dimension while testing on users from adult to children as well as disable person on wheelchair to use the touchscreen for interactive map.
Similar approach was undertaken to the material choice to bring smooth use-case and fulfill the CSR requirements on ecological and sustainable, recyclable aspects.
CHALLENGE: The key obstacle was to persuade the customer that "less is more" rule should also be applied on touchscreen size. The customer tend to thing the bigger size of the screen the better. However during the test and learn phase we were able to reduce 43" touchscreen to 27" in order to bring ergonomic for all users. The view scope and dimension for images perception is much better for smaller screen as well as haptic properties for typing. At the end of the process the customer agreed on new specification and the final product allowed him to get beyond his initial expectations.
