DESIGN NAME: Reconstruction of Silver Inlay Zebu Cow
PRIMARY FUNCTION: 3D Visualisation
INSPIRATION: Cast bronze, incised and inlaid with silver, zebu-cow suckling her calf while a lion attacks her back, made using the lost wax method, 13th century. But over time, the silver inlay has been lost. The main goal was to reconstruct the original appearance of the masterpiece.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 3D renders and 3D animation of the CAD model aim to represent a real bronze statue of Zebu-Cow with its original silver inlay in a showroom of The Hermitage Museum. 3D visualization of Zebu-Cow is the part of the research and restoration process.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The viewer notices the image on a screen and their interest is immediately captured by the true realistic image of the bronze Zebu-Cow Statue. The 3D visualisation consists of cad model with texture, silver inlay together with numerous renders and video files
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Hermitage Museum, July 2021-January 2023
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Computer Graphics, 3D Modeling, Texturing, and Rendering Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The bronze statue has been scanned and photographed. Examples of exhibits in similar techniques and the same historical period were explored. Than the high-quality draughtsmanships of engraving and inlay were performed. Finally, the 3D-reconstruction of the masterpiece was made. 3D animation, modeling, simulation, and rendering software were used during the creation of this 3D visualization, renders, and videos. Geomagic Design, Zbrush were used for the sculpting and rendering process together with Photoshop for creating some parts of images of the interior and Filmora for a video edit.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The statue is 35 cm high

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Numerous exhibits in similar techniques and the same historical period were explored.
CHALLENGE: The Zebu-Cow and its original appearance has been never created as a 3D model. Creating the texture and similar color of the real bronze statue and silver inlay and engraving followed by complex research for accuracy of the final images from historical perspective.
