PRIMARY FUNCTION: Customized Furniture
INSPIRATION: Different furniture in different environments inspired us to come up with this project. We need many furniture in our daily life. They have different functions. Nowadays customized furniture is more and more popular among people. Customized furniture allows users to create pieces that are uniquely suited to personal preferences, functional needs, and environmental concerns, making living space both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Yourself is a customized furniture design. Not just a piece of furniture. It has different functional attributes. It can be a crib or a sofa or a bookshelf. Yourself allows users to personalize the design to meet specific needs and preferences. Users can choose the cores, colors and functions to create a piece that fits perfectly in space and matches style. Yourself can also be a sustainable option, as it allows users to get different kind of furniture by one product. Users can assemble their own furniture according to their different needs.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Yourself consists of a wood core and aluminum alloy sticks. The wooden core determines its function. The aluminum alloy sticks define its frame. When using, first decide what kind of furniture you need. Metal sticks are then assembled into brackets that require furniture, which are attached with screws. Finally, the wood core is placed on the stand and secured with screws. Yourself can become different products such as cabinets, cribs, bookcases, coffee tables and so on.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2022 in Milan and finished in February 2023 in that place, and was exhibited in China in February 2023.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Materials are teak and Aluminium alloy.
Teak is all a dry shrinkage is wet bilge minimum deformation of wood, after professional drying treatment, stable size very wear-resisting, the shrinkage rate is the minimum deformation coefficient of the wood, good resistance to bending, wear-resisting. Therefore, suitable as muti-functional furniture.
Aluminum alloys are lightweight, which makes them ideal for use in assembly product. Aluminum alloys have a high strength-to-weight ratio, which means they can withstand high levels of stress and pressure without deforming or breaking. This makes them ideal for use in structural applications. Aluminum alloys are 100% recyclable, which means they can be reused indefinitely without losing their properties. This makes them a sustainable choice for manufacturers and consumers alike.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Customized furniture has become an increasingly popular trend in recent years, as consumers seek to personalize their living spaces and create unique and functional environments. The research will examine the reasons why consumers choose to customize their furniture, the benefits they perceive, and the challenges they face in the process. The findings of this research will contribute to a better understanding of the motivations and outcomes of customizing furniture for residential spaces, and will provide insights for both consumers and industry professionals.
CHALLENGE: Creative Challenge: Designing a unique and functional by client's needs and preferences. Incorporating the latest design trends and technologies into the customization process to create furniture that is both innovative, easy to use and cheap.
Research Challenge: Understanding the various functions, finishes, and manufacturing techniques available to create customized furniture that meets the client's expectations for durability, quality, and environmental sustainability. Measuring the impact of customized furniture on the overall sustainability of the furniture industry.
