Buzzy Bot

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Robotic Delivery Vehicle

INSPIRATION:
The volumes, lines and colors of Honey Bee are the inspiration for the organic shape of the main robot body. The hexagonal shape of the storage compartments is inspired by the natural geometric shape of Honeycomb. It is main functional and aesthetic light-motive. Construction of the horse-drawn Carriages was the inspiration for the symmetrical architecture of the vehicle. For better visibility in night conditions, Led emitting strips have been installed in the aluminum rims and 4 arc blinkers.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Buzzy Bot is medium size, autonomous delivery vehicle. Different types of goods are placed in a total of 34 separate automated storage compartments with Electronic Drawer system. It is able to service large number of clients in the shortest period of time with just one trip. There is adaptive ground distance - Clearance, to overcoming road obstacles. Solar panels on the roof are there for additional electric power supply. It has a Cargo Drone for transporting medium sized packages.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The system of independent rotation of all four wheels by 90 degrees, allows efficient and fast maneuvering and parking in confined areas. Vehicle can move in all 4 directions. Indoor Climate Micro-System enables the transport of hot or cold food. Oled info-display on each different colored hexagonal compartment shows temperature and order Client Code. Robot has a built-in QR scanner and contactless payment credit card reader. In this way, it is possible to pay directly on the robot itself.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in September 2022 and finished in January 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The chassis is made of an alloy of light metals such as aluminum and titanium. Stainless steel is used for mechanical kinetic assemblies where high strength and resistance to shocks and moisture are required. External formwork and smaller parts are made from thermoformed and injection-molded plastics. Darkened - transparent doors of compartment are made of polycarbonate with implemented transparent Oled (Organic Led) displays.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Lenght 3000 mm x Width 1450 mm x Height 1850 mm. GPS autonomous navigation system. 360 degree camera vision field with automatic recognition of pedestrians, road signs and traffic lights. Lidar for automatic detection of ground terrain topology. Radar detection of other vehicles and objects with automatic braking and acceleration. Voice and remote control over vehicle by operator in control center in critical situation. The energy is stored in 270 % efficient electric Solid-State batteries.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
In the last ten years, statistical research in the fields of trade and sales has shown that online shopping, ordering of various types of goods and their delivery is constantly increasing, more than 10 % annually. The biggest problem with current small delivery robots on the market is one or few deliveries per one ride. After one delivery, the robot must return to the base to receive the next package. In that way, a lot of time is lost between two clients. A large fleet of robots is necessary.

CHALLENGE:
The task of analyzing and positioning all the necessary electromechanical assemblies of the vehicle with the desired aesthetics, into a very complex functional unit that moves on the roads. By combining the organic soft shapes of the main body with the geometrized structure of joint-mechanisms, large wheels and batteries, a specific futuristic design was obtained. The vehicle's primary communication with the client required the design of a completely new audio and visual intelligible interface.

PROFILE:
Marko Lukovic (Doctor of Arts) is an industrial and automotive designer from Belgrade, Serbia. He has over 20 years of experience and work in the top industry. He is the winner of 25 international and domestic design awards. Marko is passionate about developing original and functional design solutions that can help people in everyday life. He is successfully engaged in product and vehicle design, graphic design and packaging design. The most important awarded realized vehicles are: the futuristic car Peugeot Moonster, World premiere was at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2001. The winning Italian solar racing car Emilia 4 for the Onda Solare team (University of Bologna), presented at the Ferrari Museum in 2018. Redesign of truck for Iveco-Zastava and new interior for Zastava Automobiles (now Fiat Serbia). Important realized products are: Leaf solar street lamp, SkyCleaner air purifier, X-Ray medical device, PlasmaJet machine, 3D scanner for motion capture etc. Marko was a key-note speaker at over 30 international professional conferences. He exhibited at over 110 individual and mixed exhibitions in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, USA, Japan, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, etc. Since 2002, Marko Lukovic also works as a Professor at the University of Arts in Belgrade, (Faculty of Applied Arts, Department of Industrial Design). He has over 200 presentations of his design projects in international encyclopedias, textbooks, magazines, internet and TV shows.

This innovative creation is an absolute wonder and is sure to revolutionize the way we think about delivery vehicles. I'm so impressed by the work of Marko Lukovic! 'Buzzy Bot' is a wonderful example of exceptional design, and the research, innovation, and commitment to detail that went into it is evident. It's a truly unique robotic delivery vehicle, and the adaptive ground clearance, electronic storage compartments, and cargo drone that it features are remarkable. It's no wonder it won the A' Design Award - Marko Lukovic is a deserving winner!

This robotic delivery vehicle is truly remarkable, with its innovative design and features, such as adaptive ground clearance, electronic drawer system, solar panel roof, and cargo drone. It is a testament to the engineering team who created this product for its ability to service a large number of clients in the shortest period of time.
