| DESIGN NAME: Onogreen PRIMARY FUNCTION: Toilet Brush INSPIRATION: The health risks of toilet brushes became clear during Covid. Bad bathroom smells were produced by germs proliferating on brush and holder. It was also apparent that most people tried to keep their toilet brushes hidden from sight. The Onogreen brush prevents the spread of germs and virus and avoids unwanted contagion in homes, hospitals, nursing homes, public toilets, restaurants and offices. By staying out of sight, the brush also inspires greater confidence in bathroom hygiene. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Its discreet design with telescopic handle allows the Onogreen brush to go completely unnoticed by keeping it into the flush system. Unique in the market, this innovation creates cleaner, safer bathrooms by eliminating germs, bad smells and by keeping the brush out of the reach of children and pets. In addition, its integrated design keeps the brush out of sight and frees up space, making the bathroom seem bigger and more spacious. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Onogreen brush allows the WC to be cleaned easily and without mess. Its shield protects your hand and acts as a lid when concealed in the flush system. Strong and robust, it withstands energetic action when needed. Compatible with disinfecting toilet tablets, it keeps them in the cistern until fully dissolved, thus avoiding blocking the flush mechanism. After the wear and tear of use, the bristles can be replaced, without having to replace the whole brush. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in January 2020 during the COVID pandemic in Cangas de Onis, Asturias, Spain. It took 18 months and it will be on the market from December 2022 |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Onogreen brush is manufactured in high quality recyclable materials with ABS chromed, golden and white gloss finishes. It has a carbon fibre structure with TPR bristles. It has fewer, more separated bristles than traditional brushes, thus preventing water becoming trapped, and so avoids dripping: it only needs a gentle shake before use to achieve this. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 300/390 mm high / 80mm diameter TAGS: Bathroom hygiene, toilet brush, sustainable, Onogreen, Invisible RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A market survey was carried out. The findings confirmed our target audience and revealed suspected misgivings about the decision to purchase an integrated toilet brush, including possible issues such as dripping, return of organic matter back to the tank or installation. We focused on designing a toilet brush according to this feedback from a sustainable point of view, and on presenting an original product that people can talk about without feeling it is an uncomfortable topic. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to design an environmentally friendly toilet brush that would stay completely out of sight, but could be compatible with most toilets, solve germ-proliferation and bad-odour issues, not drip, and would make people want to talk about it. The humble toilet brush is often considered an embarrassing topic. I wanted to design an original toilet brush that people would have no qualms about recommending to others, if not with pride, at least without blushing. NAME: Onogreen PROFILE: Onogreen is a new brand created in Asturias, Spain, during COVID. It aims to design original bathroom accessories which are both sustainable and functional. Onogreen aspires to design innovative, disruptive solutions while eliminating the cognitive dissonance that occurs after the purchase of certain accessories such as toilet brushes. There are certain bacteria and viruses whose presence is more common in bathrooms and they are transmitted through waste. This situation occurs more frequently in public bathrooms, hospitals, residences or cafes. Onogreen minimizes the risk of contagion and improving the smell in the bathroom. The innovative Onogreen design promotes a cleaner, fresher, more spacious bathroom by integrating the toilet brush in the flush system. The Onogreen toilet brush helps keep your bathroom spotless and saves space. By staying out of sight, the toilet brush inspires greater confidence in bathroom hygiene |
