DESIGN NAME: Horatio Street
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for this apartment came from the firm's previous project, known as the Jewel Box. The design is a refined version of the earlier project with a distinct twist of materials and colors, making the space minimal but powerful and displaying a comfortable yet innovative design. Though inspired by a previous design, this apartment has discovered its distinct voice and has made another impactful splash in the firm's portfolio and the architectural world.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The New York City apartment emphasizes that bigger isn't always better. The apartment is a safe haven designed for the client who values intimacy. The bed-chamber is an independent volume floating within an otherwise open space. The apartment features original oak floors and traditional paneled walls. The kitchen is small but decadent, and the small-scaled bathroom features marble floors. The result is an apartment with architectural details that offer a variety of experiences.
