| DESIGN NAME: Paintance PRIMARY FUNCTION: Decorative Printer INSPIRATION: Paintance comes from children or autistic people resisting and pulling off masks because they don't understand the use of wearing masks. According to the interview with kindergarten teachers, sometimes children don't know that masks have time limits and need to be replaced. Child psychologists also said that children with autism often resist wearing masks because of their weak understanding ability and dislike being controlled. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Paintance can freely draw their favorite patterns on the interface and print on masks or gauze bandages. Environmental friendly pigments are used in the dye. According to the dilution of the patterns, children can be reminded to replace new masks or bandages, so as to promote the treatment when they see a doctor. In the children's art education, STEAM education is combined, so that children can learn and understand the application of technology in life in the process of drawing. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Use steps 1. start the Paintace, download and transfer the drawn pattern 2. put the paper to print patterns 3. open and put in the alignment sheet, mask and pattern paper 4. turn off and do the first thermal sublimation 5. Open and flip contents 6. turn off and do the second thermal sublimation. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began construction in January 2022. At present, this product has evolved through consultation and interviews with professionals at the conceptual and research stages. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Thermal sublimation will be dedicated to environmental protection ink ribbon, which won’t affect the permeability of the printing area, so it's suitable for full page printing of masks. The ribbon contains a special dye, which can fade according to time, helping children identify whether they need to replace the mask. In addition, it's equipped with a drawing application to draw mask patterns, which can be shared online, so that users of different ages can easily draw their own styles.
