DESIGN NAME: Mizone Mystery
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Beverage
INSPIRATION: Blind box is popular in China and young consumers indulge in it. The uncertainty of blind box can arouse consumers' curisority. Thus, the team gets inspired by blind box and creates an iconic question mark on the back of panel to draw consumers' attention. Besides, the team takes the mysterious polar light as design theme to explain the idea of Mystery. The blue and green aurora stretches in the dark night sky. The gorgeous aurora reflects on the cooling iceberg. Consumers seem to be immersed under the splendid aurora, feel the double refreshing feeling from taste and visual, and dispel the heat and boredom of late summer.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Follow the success of 2022 spring and summer limited edition, Mizone launches the limited mystery flavor at the end of summer. Inspired by the mysterious and refreshing aurora, it brings surprise to consumers and gets engaged with them.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: To stand out among products only with big question marks on them, it is important to create a mysterious theme for packaging that can attract consumers. Therefore, the idea of polar light comes to mind. The mysterious and changeable polar light is attractive to Chinese consumers and remind them of the world of ice and snow in summer.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project starts in February, 2022 and launches in July, 2022.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: During the early stage of project, the team realizes that question mark is an unavoidable design code for blind box or mystery flavor products. Therefore, its packaging should contain this element. To stand out among market, it is important to create a mysterious theme for packaging that can attract consumers and encourage them to post it online. After brainstorming, the team chooses polar light to represent Mizone's mystery. It brings not only mystery but also a sense of refreshing in hot summer.
CHALLENGE: The main challenge is Mizone has its design principle that front and back panels should be consistent. In this project, the team breaks Mizone’s design principle to make the mystery idea more clear. A big & bold question mark is presented on back of panel which arouses the endless curiosity.
