| DESIGN NAME: Gui Ba Fang PRIMARY FUNCTION: Baijiu Packaging INSPIRATION: Tang Dynasty, the most noticeable, prosperous and open dynasty in Chinese history. Inspired by the history of the Emperor of Tang Dynasty welcoming guests from all over the world, this product tights the culture of Baijiu closely with the history, cultural values, social scenes and emotional resonance in the form of Chinese traditional calligraphy, seal cutting and the Dunhuang frescoes to boost the connotation of the product and highlight its theme as well. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In a theme of “Culture of The Great Tang Dynasty”, this Chinese Baijiu reflects a nice vision of harmonious development and national peace, expressing the artistic and cultural values of oriental aesthetics by applying a blend of the histories, art and culture of the prosperous Tang Dynasty with the product in the form of Chinese traditional calligraphy, seal cutting, painting and art crafts. It combines the history, culture and social scenes tightly with the product and also represents the wishes of the company to inherit and carry forward the virtues of traditional culture. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The history, culture and art of Tang Dynasty are blended together in this product to spark the customers to research and adore the history, traditional culture and art. It can be propagated and promoted in a more widespread way when combined with commemorative activities, tourism, art exhibitions and museums. Both of the outer box and bottle can be used as a handicraft or collection with less discard or waste. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The color of emperor's costume represents the highest rank. Inside the box, the exquisite picture of Emperor entertaining guests tells a story in cultural and artistic way. The octagonal ceramic bottle implies welcoming guests from all ways. Its cultural connotation is improved as the calligraphy with a meaning of harmonious coexistence is employed. A theme of “eight phoenixes worship the sun” indicates positive and harmonious development. CHALLENGE: One of the hardest part of the whole design comes in the early stage, a large amount of information needs to be sorted and screened and then following a work of integration and refinement of the creativity which related to its theme, for instance, the drawing of illustrations requires a fusion of historical stories and Dunhuang frescoes. Another is in the process of communication and implementation of how to represent the sense of product quality on its packaging material and technological process.
