| DESIGN NAME: Apollo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Dining Table INSPIRATION: The goal of the project was to create a piece that establishes dominance in modern open-space interiors, an object that radiates luxury using the only minimalistic architectural form and fine details, a product with a powerful presence. The object form is inspired by the Apollo 13 Lunar Module. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The limited-edition geometrical dining table is made using superior grade materials and the highest standards of manufacturing technology with exquisite manually crafted details. This piece exceeds the highest level of quality and is made to last. Monumental symmetrical form, with directed clean lines and precise details, is associated with power and success. Apollo can adapt and dominate in the open spaces of most modern luxury interiors. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Seats up to 4 people for an exclusive dining ambience. Allows quick assembly and disassembly, since the glass top can be securely placed in position on the table structure by simply inserting the connecting elements into the eight protruding pillars. The legs have a concealed height adjustment system with double feet design. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project research, conceptualization, development, and optimization for production lasted for two years, it was coordinated from Malta, and executed in the EU. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Laser cutting, lathe turning and five-axis CNC milling of stainless-steel parts, careful manual welding and grinding, superior quality polishing to nautical finish or brushed to preference. Stainless steel is coated with an extra durable high gloss clear finish. Tempered glass is used for the tabletop. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Length / Width: 140 x 140cm, Height: 76cm. Glass top surface is available in extra clear, bead-blasted, tinted, or enamelled glass, with a selection of edge finish options. TAGS: Dominant, Monumental, Limited-Edition, Luxury, Custom-Detail-Finish RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project started with the idea to create an exclusive piece of furniture, mainly planned for a five-star hotel and luxury apartment interiors, in superior quality, using enduring materials and the latest production technologies. No expense was spared. The product required a high level of precision and very skilful manual workmanship. A characteristic form composed of angularly arranged rectangular tubes was selected to keep the weight to a minimum while providing maximal structural stability. CHALLENGE: Outsourcing the manufacturers to fabricate the parts to specification lasted several months. A workforce capable of top-quality execution for the welding, grinding and polishing was selected after multiple iterations and prototypes. The state-of-the-art manufacturing process and high-end equipment were chosen for production. The quality of workmanship and precision of fabrication was put to the test during the final assembly and placement of the glass tabletop on the pillars.
