DESIGN NAME:
A Spring Ode to the Dancing Butterflies

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Public Art

INSPIRATION:
Half blooming flowers sway in the wind, revealing fragrance as if maidens moving their graceful figures, shy and timid. The flying butterflies symbolize the transformation of Lixiping, unfolding its energetic and fascinating glamour, the prospect is far and wide, as if a deep-rooted forest, displaying diverse charm and aesthetic.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The feature of this work is the use of stainless steel to interpret the breath of spring and the image of butterflies dancing in nature. Two curves with different textures rotate from bottom to sky.It can bring hope to those who appreciate the works.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The installation location of the sculpture is at the meeting point of many main moving lines. Visitors can interact and get close to the work from all directions. It is a popular object for photographers and tourists.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in July 2021 and finished with installation in Miaoli,Taiwan in January 2022

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The material of this work is stainless steel, which is made by hand forging. The surface is treated with mirror polishing and green baking paint. With the rotation of the modeling curve, two completely different textures are intertwined in the space. To guide people to appreciate the beauty of different angles,

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
This is a rural regeneration program. The purpose is to establish a recognizable entrance landmark, It is hoped that through public art, the characteristics and development potential of the countryside can be conveyed, the resonance and cohesion of the people can be increased, and it can also bring tourism benefits to the local area.

CHALLENGE:
The biggest challenge is to make an abstract object like a plant full of vitality and integrate with the local landscape environment.

The Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, COA abide by the policy principles of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, and actively promote healthy, efficient, and sustainable general agricultural practices. In response to the requirements for rural village development, we look for core values and features with the help of communities to build rural villages that give equal attention to production, life, and the environment. On the basis of preserving the original life style of rural villages, we follow a bottom-up, plan-oriented principle that emphasizes both software and hardware development to promote rural regeneration in an attempt to restore the dignity of rural residents and reach the goal of building splendid new villages. In addition, in order to serve society through soil and water conservation as well as free rural residents from the threat of debris flows, we promote comprehensive slopeland management and disaster prevention measures, establish community-based debris flow prevention systems, strengthen soil and water conservation education and advocacy efforts, monitor and manage slopeland, and maintain a healthy and safe slopeland environment.
