| DESIGN NAME: Tokyu Garden City PRIMARY FUNCTION: Visual Identity and Website INSPIRATION: Most important was the city's theme, Always New. We sought ways to express in the V I and website that this city is a place where things are always changing and new things are being born. The client is a joint venture between Japan and Vietnam, and while respecting the Vietnamese culture, they are developing this city by incorporating the best of Japan. How to convey the fusion was also important. Research such as field observation and interviews was a key factor when considering the design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We designed the visual identity and website for Tokyu Garden City, an urban development project in Binh Duong New City, Vietnam. The concept was Always New. The website provides not only basic information but also a variety of articles that convey the attraction of the city. We designed the website as a place to create awareness and understanding of the city, to build relationships between residents and developers, and to spread the word from the residents to the world. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: To grab the user's attention at the first view, we created a vivid flow of text and images at the beginning of the page. We designed interactions from both functional and emotional perspectives in order to prevent user misoperation, convey information in an impressive manner, and create a comfortable operation. The overall menu and links to language switching and the Facts page are fixedly placed so that one-click from any page takes users to where they want without stress. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2020 with the concept and visual identity study. The website development project began in May 2021 and the website went live in March 2022. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We implemented animation direction and interaction for a fun, exciting, and novel design using the fast and lightweight G S A P (GreenSock Animation Platform). The website was built component-based using React, with only relevant components being updated and rendered efficiently. The website was built with methods to achieve a stress-free and comfortable process when accessed by the user. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The content pages such as News & Topics and Discover have Vietnamese, English, and Japanese versions, and there was concern that updates would become complicated. Therefore, it was developed using Headless CMS so that the webmaster can transmit information smoothly. By separating the front-end and back-end development and handling the access load separately, a beautiful design and ease of updating were achieved at the same time. TAGS: Minimal, Simple, Exciting, Rich, Bright, Fresh, Growth RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We ascertained the actual situation through a quantitative survey cooperating with the local government in the development of the Binh Duong New City over 10 years. We conducted interviews to grasp the vision of the management in business aspects, depth interviews with real estate sales agents to grasp the representative personas of residents, field observation to grasp the specific personas to understand their situation and how their behavior changes over time and location. CHALLENGE: In the process of identifying and scrutinizing what is truly necessary in today's society, where so much information is available and diverse ways of working and living are accepted, we have come to believe that remaining the city whose attraction is not fade away even decades after is the value of a "constantly new and growing" city. The two types of elements, thin lines (newness) and thick lines (growth), are intended to remain a symbol of urban design that bridges Japan and Vietnam. NAME: Becamex Tokyu Co., Ltd PROFILE: BECAMEX TOKYU is a joint company between TOKYU CORPORATION of Japan and BECAMEX IDC CORP of Vietnam, which was established in March 2012, and has 244 employees as of June 2021. In Vietnam’s new urban development, by utilizing the urban development know-how cultivated in “TOKYU Tama Denen City” and the network of the TOKYU Group, BECAMEX TOKYU challenged to export Japanese-style urban development packages for the first time as a Japanese company, and are developing the largest urban development in Vietnam. |
