| DESIGN NAME: Booxwap PRIMARY FUNCTION: Book Exchange Application INSPIRATION: Reading printed books is more pleasant for people, but it is costly and involves damage to nature. Booxwap will help seekers find the text on the other`s bookshelf while the owner does not need it. This app is a bridge to carry this hidden wealth hand to hand worldwide. The layouts are designed based on book appearance; every part looks like an open book. The green color symbolizes green nature. Booxwap is a redesign of a successful application designed and launched as “noby” 5 years ago. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Booxwap is a platform that provides a profile for users as readers, seekers, publishers, and stores to present books. The books could be second-hand or new, or even old and rare. Booxwap provides a path through the book from one to another reader to spread contents. The registered books will be used more times, fewer trees will be cut, and less ink and materials will be consumed for making books. Besides, more readers will have access to more books they may have been searching for a long time. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Booxwap uses familiar screen patterns and components to avoid user frustration. Things work the way users predict, so they feel a stronger sense of control. Besides, thumb zones prevent users' hard effort in accessing functional application sections. Natural, stretching, and hard-to-use parts of the screen are managed in a way that the user senses it is easy to reach. Besides, clutters are cut out and seem comprehensive from the user's point of view. An appropriate profile is based on user type as the seeker, reader, publisher, and book store. Every user could upload an image of the book cover and more photos to present a book and write some about the book, its price, and status. The user would choose the contact way, and it is possible to withdraw the book or edit descriptions. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It started in Vancouver, Canada, in March 2021 and finished in January 2022. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Booxwap uses Photoshop, Adobe XD to produce prototypes. Android and Java programming languages are used to develop applications. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The UX and UI are specially designed for the website and the android/ iOS app. TAGS: Design, UX, UI, Education, App design, Digital Design, book, exchange RESEARCH ABSTRACT: UI/UX principles are studied to design the application interface efficiently. Also, many related applications were investigated, and the most essential prone and cons are considered to choosing a better way. CHALLENGE: The most critical issue in the designing process of Boxwape was UI/UX design perfectly. Designing components and modules according to standards and regarding aesthetic aspects of the design was the most challenging part of our work.
