PRIMARY FUNCTION: Educational Learning Toy
INSPIRATION: Many of the fundamental values of tomorrow society are being formed in early childhood contexts today. Since the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs, is the plan to build a better world for people which were adopted by United Nations Member States in 2015. Among the 17 goals, the SDGs no.11th, to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Early childhood education therefore has a major role to play in achieving sustainable development, and by toys as a tool to enhance preschool children consciousness and established the concept of the SDGs.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is an early childhood educational toy, focusing on the sustainable development of cities. Children can learn by playing to understand the requirement of city development process with various components. To cultivate basic concepts during early childhood stage is fundamental. The playing mechanism can develop children hand eye coordination and their autonomy capability. Compared with the puzzle building blocks in the market, instead materials used commonly like wood or plastic, recycle corrugated fiberboard as main material since recycling also conforms to sustainable development objective.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Play teaching aids with city building as the core, during the game, you can first color the objects made of corrugated paper to cultivate patience and concentration, then assemble the baseboard according to the silhouette figure configured on the blueprint, improves visual observation during assembly, final stage begins to stack houses, and with illustrations to guide education, let children integrate into the situation to play toys.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in June 2021 and was completed in Tainan, Taiwan in March 2022. Attending Young Designer's Exhibition(Yodex) June 2022 in Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Material: corrugated paper, Production technology: using laser cutting, output plane, hand-painted and glued. Surface treatment: color using non-toxic waterproof acrylic paint, part of the surface retains the surface texture of corrugated paper.

Play Items: 1. Basic building:12 pcs buildings blocks in 4 types, each comes with 3 sizes: dimension range from biggest building block in length 105mm x width 85mm x height 40mm to smallest house in length 8omm x width 60mm x height 40mm.
2. Others items: Wind Turbines, length 170mm x width 80mm x height 25mm 4. Terrain puzzle: Type A, length 300mm x width 200mm, Type B, length 240mm x width 200mm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Type of study: STEAM education focus on Sustainable Development Goals.
Objectives:To raise consciousness on the sustainable development goals for preschool age children, especially the issues of urban sustainability, inclusive, safe and resilient.
Method: Type analysis, urban environment analysis, material analysis, toy type size analysis
Data Collection: Market research for children aged 3-6, market analysis of toys aged 3-6 and analysis of the opinions of teachers and leaders in early childhood education
Research tools: Rhinoceros 3D,Adobe Illustrator, KeyShot
CHALLENGE: Corrugated paper as the only materials made this puzzle toy unique and different from other toy materials on the market, due to the thicker part of the paper, it cannot be completely cut during laser cutting, and it needs to be manually modified, because of the large number of objects in the shape, the color plan was constantly adjusted. In order to achieve the final ideal shape and color, the team tried and revised many times, and finally came up with the best solution.
