DESIGN NAME: Petite Foret
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wedding Banquet Hall
INSPIRATION: Humans' yearning for nature has never stopped. Nature can give human beings calm and energy. Wearing a white veil to marry a prince in a forest, or attending a banquet gracefully in a forest, is out of reach for most people. The wedding scene in the movie "Twilight" makes peoples yearn for it. So, why can't we move nature into a comfortable interior space? Really smell the pine branches, touch the bushes, and have a natural scent in a space where you don't have to worry about anything else.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A bold spatial art attempt to bring a forest indoors. In an indoor type of banquet hall, the inherent concept is broken, and the originally ordinary empty space is transformed into a forest scene. This immersive space design is a challenge to imagination and the most direct expression of yearning for nature. Nature is the origin of our humanity and civilization, and we will one day return to nature. An important moment in life, such as a wedding, is more integrated with nature.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This is an art display that can be full of interaction without a special design process. Nature brings its smell, that smell that fills the air. Walking into the small forest, you will forget that you are in the reinforced concrete of the city. Stepping on the soft turf and stroking the slightly rough bark immediately creates a connection with the magnetic field of nature. Relatives and friends walked into the small forest and sat down, and time stood still at this moment. Residents of the entire hotel complex, executive chef and staff were attracted to our exhibit by the fragrance that day.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was produced and set up on September 21, 2018, and officially used and exhibited on September 22, 2018, Rosewood Hotel, Beijing.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This art exhibition mainly uses all real materials from nature. This is the core and most important technology of this project. Different kinds of tall trees, low shrubs, grasses on the ground, naturally formed flora, fresh turf with earthy fragrance, dead leaves that squeak on stepping, moss overgrown with roots, and blooming flower. This is what a small forest looks like. These natural materials are brought into the interior in the most ingenious way and 100% restored to the forest scene, which is the meaning of everything.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The art exhibition is in an indoor space with a width of 18000mm, a length of 40000mm and a height of 6000mm. The mini forest is about 2500*5000mm, the size of the main forest is about 13000mm*8000mm, and the visual width of the background forest is 16000mm. It is composed of 20 different kinds of trees and bushes.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project mainly wants to explore the connection between humans and nature. With the way of wedding art display, it attracted more than 400 people to visit and experience. Reflect on the dependence of human beings on cities after entering a high degree of civilization, and awaken the resonance of nature and the universe in the depths of the soul. A brief escape from the city. All the participants showed great curiosity, one flower, one grass, one tree and one tree, the real materials from nature made them linger. Humans are inseparable from nature, and human beings need a paradise for themselves, a small forest full of love.
CHALLENGE: In order to achieve the idea of bringing nature into the interior, I went through a lot of challenges. The first is to transport these tall trees into the indoor space. These materials will "pollute" the indoor environment during on-site construction and need to be protected. In addition, the biggest challenge should be how to best match these natural materials. The materials used in this place have been planned and screened in detail. About 200 species and 20 large trees were selected from 4-5 species. All materials are aesthetically reconstructed according to their characteristics in nature.
