| DESIGN NAME: Seacrea PRIMARY FUNCTION: Kung Fu Tea Pitcher INSPIRATION: The design was inspired by the experience of our team's volunteering work helping pick up beach garbage along the coast of Southeast Asia. When we turned over the grass and gravel along the beach to clean up a huge amount of garbage, the problem of marine pollution shocked us. So we hope that we can appeal to people to cherish the ocean through the power of design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With the vision of cherishing the marine environment, the product form of Seacrea bionic teaware comes from a combination of research on the intelligent form of marine life and ergonomics and conveys the attitude towards environmental protection through drinking tea and sharing, which is a frequent and common activity of Chinese people's daily life. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The radian of the simulated marine fossil shape is specially designed for holding. The streamlined design on the inner wall of the pouring vessel originates from the research on the liquid diversion structure inside the conch so that the whole tea drinking and sharing experience is clean and tidy. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started at the end of 2019 and finished in August 2020 in Guangzhou, China, and was exhibited in Red Dot Museum(China) in July 2021. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The tea ware is made of ancient natural coloured glaze materials, which have the functions of safety and heat insulation. Thanks to the latest industrial process upgrade, the spirit of craftsman and industrial production can complement each other and complete a creative process through the ancient coloured glaze. Through craftsman's inspection and refinement for touch feeling, the product feels warm and moist like jade. At a firing temperature of more than 1,000 degrees, each product receives a slightly different "ice cracking" texture, which added an oriental aesthetic attribute. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width: 86mm Length: 122mm Height: 61mm TAGS: pitcher, teaware RESEARCH ABSTRACT: For this project, the emotional experience design is more important than the product form. We have done a lot of experiments between ordinary glass and glazed glass. Finally, we used glazed glass technology to pursue a semi-permeable artistic texture with micro cracks and snowflake crystals. Not only because it looks good, more importantly, because the glass craft fits the emotion and culture we want to convey in the user experience, If we can often think of the beauty of natural marine creatures when you use it or see it, how many gifts the ocean has for us, our world is a whole, and no one can abuse nature and be immune to it, If we can convey a little aware of nature to users through products, this is a greater value. CHALLENGE: The firing temperature curve is very important in the process of ancient glazed glass, which determines the final texture and hardness of the product. In this process, we experienced five times failures that the product cracked because it was too fragile, and after dozens of experiments and twenty-seven processes, it worked out the most reasonable temperature curve together with the craftsmen in the workshop.
