PRIMARY FUNCTION: Luggage
INSPIRATION: I was inspired by the shape of suitcases and nightstands. They are similar in size and shape. Our motivation for changing the design was the travel experience. Traveling often requires carrying suitcases, but it is difficult to find a suitable place to store bulky suitcases. So we wanted to intergrate luggage and common furniture. We wanted to design a suitcase that could be used as a bedside table.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a luggage that can change appearance. This design is unique in that it can be transformed into two products. When used as luggage. It's a suitcase that opens in a unique way. Open and use by rolling the door. It's easier to pack your bags this way. When used as a bedside table. Luggage wheels and handles can be hidden. By changing the form, it can solve the problem of difficult storage of suitcases.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: First of all, it's a unique suitcase. It opens and closes in a different way. Open the suitcase through the roll-up door and store luggage like a cabinet. When it is used as a nightstand, dropping down the suitcase handle. The rolling door is pulled to the bottom, and the four wheels are rotated into the bottom of the box.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2021 in Milan and finished in February 2022 in that place, and was exhibited in China in February 2022.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Mainly using ABC+PC material, impact resistance, high hardness, strong toughness, cheap price.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: According to the research, most people will buy luggage for travel or business trips. But the sheer size of the suitcase makes it difficult to find a suitable place to store it. This will cause a lot of unnecessary waste of space. There is a huge market demand to solve this problem.
CHALLENGE: This is an innovative design with a complex internal structure, and the machining qualification rate is the biggest challenge encountered by this project.
