| DESIGN NAME: Spring PRIMARY FUNCTION: A Ring INSPIRATION: It was inspired by the Mediterranean or Italian cypress, which has been the essential element in Persian miniatures paintings, and it always appeared with the blooming tree which symbolize hope, new beginning and spring. Cypress is a resilient and strong tree that might bend during storms but rarely breaks, so it refers to immortality and is one of the main elements as a symbol of liberty, brevity and eternality because it resists against cold and darkness, as we all did in the past two years during the covid UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Spring is a creative two-finger ring; as the name proposes, it is worn jointly on two fingers, on the middle and ring finger or any two adjoining fingers of your choice. Spring ring is a balance between vintage and ultra-modern, Chic with a contemporary flair and will get you red carpet ready in a flash.This ring which designed to perfection and reflects the skilled craftsmanship and inventiveness was made of 18K solid gold, natural sapphire and enamel. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This creative two-finger ring as the name proposes, is worn jointly on two fingers; on the middle and ring finger or any two adjoining fingers of your choice. It's designed to grace two fingers. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started during the covid in Jun 2021 in Toronto and finished at January 2022 in Toronto, Canada. This piece have never been exhibited before. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It was a challenging design to make and set. At first as a goldsmith I hand fabricated many prototypes, then as a jewelry designer, I draw it in rhino software, 3D printed it and later as a jeweller I casted it in 18K gold; hand polished for a great shine, applied enamel on petals and finally set 176 stones (13 pink and 163 green). It was a complicated and time assuming process but I think It worth it. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This double finger ring is made of 18K solid gold, 13 natural pink sapphire and 163 natural emerald in 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm & 2.5mm. The dimension of the ring is: Height: 50mm / Width: 25mm / Depth: 25mm and weights 34gram. The spring ring comes in a customised black jewelry box and yellow ribbon both with logo. TAGS: Ring, Sanazdoost, Jewelry Design, Spring Ring, Cypress ring RESEARCH ABSTRACT: During the pandemic, while all of us were living in traumatic time, I was looking for a symbol of strength. I started to research the literature and paintings and I came with the idea of creating a cypress and blooming tree ring, as a symbol of hope to pass these dark days. This idea came to my mind by searching the Persian miniature paintings which is mostly depict scenes of Persian mythology and poetry; specifically stories of Shahnameh (The Persian Book of Kings) of Ferdowsi (c. 940-1020). A ring, to reminds us we are cypress; resilient and strong that might bend during storms, but we rarely break! CHALLENGE: To make it ergonomic, lightweight and wearable while keep the creative design and form, was the challenging part. NAME: Sanaz Doost Inc PROFILE: Sanaz Doost Inc founded in Toronto/Canada by Sanaz Doost, a Jewelry designer and a former Industrial Designer. Sanaz Doost launched her studio in late 2019 during her college years while she was studying jewelry design. she was Born and raised in Iran and in 2006 at the age of 18, she became a global nomad and lived in many countries till 2017 which she settled in Toronto. Her design reflects the experiences and challenges she has been through in her journeys around the world. Her designs are bold, brave, unique and elegant. |
