PRIMARY FUNCTION: Retail Development
INSPIRATION: The design is inspired to set a new benchmark for experiential destinations in China. Truly innovative, the vision seeks to deliver a new-generation social destination, an urban natural community and a landmark regional commercial centre.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Ring in Chongqing is a ground-breaking ecological retail destination featuring one of China’s largest indoor botanic gardens.
A first-of-its-kind for the city – the interior design intertwines retail, nature, culture and experience. Coming to life with a 42-metre-tall botanical garden, interactive sports and culture, and a creative tenant mix, The Ring provides a new attraction in Chongqing.
The power of biophilia and nature is front and centre, pushing the agenda forward for retail design.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: -
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The development is located in Chongqing’s Jinzhou Business District, and set within the city’s residential centre, next to the picturesque Zhaomushan Forest Park.
With direct connections to Chongqing Metro Line 5 (completed) and Line 15 (in planning), the scheme features a transit-oriented approach to deliver convenient access across the city.
The scheme was completed and opened to the public in 2021.
