PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring
INSPIRATION: Inspirations kicked in during 2020 pandemic lock-down but the world still looks beautiful and has hope. Our Earth just need a break. Everyone look at mask as a scary thing and reminded them the risk of Covid but not with this ring. This ring was inspired by surgical mask which then turn into a very positive outcome. Every cloud has a silver lining emphasizing there is always opportunity in every crisis. It is truly historical design in which that moment will never repeat again.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: M19 is a jewelry designer historical collection. The ring has a strong and a structural design. It is perceived as jewelry architecture that bring out a sense of modern contemporary. Every angle is an art and give different perspectives. It is fresh and bring hope. A white metal base is being used with a hint of sparkles from the stone used.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This ring is best worn on index finger or ring finger to best show case the design and perspectives.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2020 in Kuala Lumpur and finished in Sept 2020 in Kuala Lumpur

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This design was initially hand sketch and then transfer into 3D computer aided design (CAD), follow by manufacturing method 3D printing, casting (CAM) and also hand stone setting. The material used is 925 silver with white Rhodium plated and Cubic Zirconia stones.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research was done by analyzing the surgical mask various angles including front and back. Thought process was applied and multiples sketches were made. Choosing stone and sorting stone included in the process too.
CHALLENGE: The most challenging part is to create the mask concept into a wearable ring. Not only that but must be beautiful and bring emotional of positivity yet practical. Placement of stone as part of the design plays a vital role as well.
