DESIGN NAME: Capu Capu Forest Kindergarten
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Logo
INSPIRATION: The name of this kindergarten was inspired by a passage in the novel, a famous Japanese novelist. It is a fantastic and mysterious story about small crabs, the customer wanted to use a frog as the motif. I wanted to keep the shape as simple as possible to leave room for creativity, so I used a paper cutout-like form.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This kindergarten is different from ordinary kindergartens in that it allows students to experience nature from the age of zero. The design also focuses on the concept of expressing the innocence and simplicity of a child at the age of zero.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The logo includes designs for flyers, signs, name cards, and online media.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The logo project started in 2017. It took 3 months to finish. The production of the flyers was then done seasonally.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: I wanted to create a solid and simple feeling. So that I used Risograph for printing. Since we had a limited budget, we used rough paper which is commonly used in schools in Japan.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The flyer is printed on A5 size with rough paper by Risograph. The front and back pages are printed in 2 colors. Inside pages are printed in 1 color.
TAGS: Risograph, logo, kindergarten, natural, flyer, kids, mountain, nature
RESEARCH ABSTRACT: First, we read the story. Then we researched various nature-themed kindergartens and schools. In particular, we researched Denmark, where there are many forest kindergartens. I also took my own child to a customer's kindergarten to experience it for myself.
CHALLENGE: For the logo design, the biggest challenge part was the creation of limited colors. Because it can express a simple, unadorned atmosphere.
