DESIGN NAME: Pinkbox Club London
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Karaoke Entertainment Venue
INSPIRATION: The karaoke club interior design draws inspiration from the ancient Chinese philosophy of Wu Xing, or the "five elements," which symbolise fundamental phases in the perpetual evolution of the universe: fire, water, wood, metal, and earth. This philosophical framework serves as the foundation for the conceptual design, weaving the essence of each element into distinct themes and characteristics that reflect the inter-connectedness of nature and humanity.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Situated in the heart of London, the karaoke entertainment venue is conceived as a sanctuary, offering visitors an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Rooted in traditional Chinese values yet expressed through a contemporary lens, the project embodies the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Each room within the venue is meticulously crafted to encapsulate the essence of one of the five elements, providing visitors with a unique and immersive spatial experience that resonates with the wisdom of Chinese philosophy.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The journey of exploration begins as guests descend the entry staircase into the basement, where they are enveloped in the theme of Earth. This is represented by staggered layers of timber boards, creating an ambiance reminiscent of an underground cave. A lighting tunnel guides visitors to three private rooms. First smallest one is for the Metal room which features a stainless-steel triangulated umbrella centrepiece, dominating the intimate space. A China map coffee table adds an intriguing touch. Second room is a narrow linear room, representing the Wood theme, is adorned with layers of tree trunk patterns, evoking the sensation of singing amidst a forest and creating an illusion of room depth. The final and largest VIP room seamlessly blends the themes of Water and Fire, offering both tranquil serenity and the fiery passion of flames.
Finally, guests conclude their journey in the sanctuary room, with a mysterious cold-blue hue evoking the underwater world. Throughout the experience, guests are immersed in environments that authentically capture the essence of each elemental theme.
Overall, the karaoke club interior design serves as a testament to the timeless wisdom of Wu Xing, offering guests an opportunity to experience the beauty and harmony of the five elements in a modern and vibrant setting.
