CHALLENGE: According to legend, the lion dance originated from the Tang Dynasty, when Emperor Xuanzong of Tang saw lion dance in front of his palace in a dream, so he woke up and ordered his attendants to make up a dance to entertain the guests in imitation of the movements of the auspicious beasts. Over time, the lion dance became a Chinese folk tradition. At festivals, people expel the evils by gods or auspicious beasts to prey for peaceful and harmonious lives.
