| DESIGN NAME: Frozen Water PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chair INSPIRATION: The inspiration for this project comes from the wavy water, the icy cold landscape, the beautiful snow of the Nordic and our forest. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Frozen Water captures like a photography the motion of subtle waves in water and is an interpretation of the frozen cold landscape of the nature in Nordic. Despite being solid and stiff, the chair is just like ice and water constantly morphing and alive, changing its appearance in symbiosis with the outer environment. The irregular reflective effect accrues from using a special technique to modify the surface of the material. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was created in 2020 in Stockholm during 2 months. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Wood, metall & renewable plastics. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 40 L x 52 W x 80 H TAGS: Chair, reflective chair, mirror chair, conceptual chair, conceptual furniture RESEARCH ABSTRACT: During the design process, many models and tests was done in order to recreated the feeling of the water and a way to ''freeze the time''. The experiments included hammering the materials, research about reflection, refraction in relation to light and materiality. Another important part of the design was also to create a furniture that was usable and ergonomic. CHALLENGE: The most challenging part in this project was to find a way to materialise the idea of freezing the water in the shape of a furniture.
