PRIMARY FUNCTION: Liquor Packaging
INSPIRATION: The brewing technique and traditional liquor culture of the Tang Dynasty had a profound impact on nowadays. The majestic palaces were also landmarks of Chinese architecture history. This product was inspired by the golden top of palaces in the Tang Dynasty. Golden Top means the highest and noblest, through which our brand wishes to respond to the spiritual demands of customers and carry on Chinese liquor culture. Also, it is our expectation to lead the industry.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Datang Mizao Golden Top is a premium liquor centered on the Tang Dynasty culture. Echoing its name, the bottle cap is golden, inspired by the golden top of the palaces in the Tang Dynasty. The bottle body is made by the Tang pottery making technique and conveys the architectural culture and liquor culture of the Tang Dynasty. Cloisonne is used throughout the bottle body. The color, combined with the palace decorative painting pattern, boasts Tang cultural charm and collection value.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Its rounded body is designed in line with ergonomics to perfectly fit the shape of palm, which is easy to pick up and firm in hand. The hollow top can increase the friction when users open the bottle cap, so it can be opened conveniently.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It was developed in Chengdu from December 2020 to May 2021, and was unveiled nationwide in August 2021.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The bottle body, derived from the liquor jar of the Tang Dynasty, is made of elaborately polished ceramic body and lead-free glaze, which is environmentally friendly and harmless to humans. The bottle body is decorated with colored drawings of Auspicious Cranes Playing with Lotus and Four Sacred Animals, which represents peace and auspiciousness.

Traditional liquor packaging can not strike a balance between appearance design and cultural deposits, and can not cater for the aesthetics and tastes of Chinese customers. There lacks a liquor packaging that boasts both aesthetics and cultural deposits.
CHALLENGE: How to combine Chinese liquor culture and the majestic palaces of the Tang Dynasty, and how to express it by modern approaches are two difficulties in designing the products. The hollowed-out top of Datang Mizao Golden depicts momentum of the golden top of palace, putting existing liquor packaging centered on trendy design into the shade. It contributes to inheriting and carrying on traditional culture as well as offering a chance for users to learn about Chinese liquor culture.
