| DESIGN NAME: Liuliu Mei PRIMARY FUNCTION: Plum Packaging INSPIRATION: Ceremony About A Plum Our inspiration came from the narration about "plums branches" in chapter 32 of the Japanese literature, The Tale Of Genji. The picture adopted the painting style of Ukiyoe in the middle period of Edo Era, depicted the daily life of appreciating plums, picking plums, cooking plums and tasting plums. What's more interesting, we blended the plum core wasted during the process of cooking plums with the material of paper pulp, to produce the spoons and caps of the product. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In the vast land of Northeast Asia, people have a variety of traditional customs relating to eating plums. Especially in Japan, a plum will be put on top of each bowl of rice in order to improve the sensitivity of the tongue to delicious food. The product is a bottle of plums, served to explore the cultural origins of eating plums between China and Japan, excavate traditional folk craftsmanship, as well as restore the most popular accompaniment food. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The picture adopted the painting style of Ukiyoe in the middle period of Edo Era, depicted the daily life of appreciating plums, picking plums, cooking plums and tasting plums. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: What's more interesting, we blended the plum core wasted during the process of cooking plums with the material of paper pulp, to produce the spoons and caps of the product. CHALLENGE: In the process of using, full of sense of ritual, people can open the bottle, scoop out a plum, put it on the saucer (the cap), and then enjoy the delicious plum. When the bottle of plums was used up, the discarded cap can be naturally degraded within 45 days to 90 days.
