| DESIGN NAME: Tao PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Speaker INSPIRATION: It is hoped that cultural connotations can be interpreted through design vocabulary. This project is based on the humanities of the dawu people and extends the design into a portable speaker, so that people can feel the cultural pulse, and try to use design to combine technology and culture. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The tao loudspeaker compliments the aboriginal dawu people. The silver helmetand top hat symbolize dawu men and women. Warm color lighting and transparentcovering reflects the warmth of the cave dwelling dawu people. Tao uses bluetooth 5.0 connection and has good waterproof and dustproof performance. Tao uses touch buttons and led lights to bring a comfortable experience for humanized operation. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Tao is equipped with two touch buttons with indicator lights. Long press the corresponding button to turn on or off the sound and light source. The volume and brightness modes are adjustable, with the corresponding sound or light source flashing when the designated key is pressed. The blue light of the button flashes during bluetooth pairing, and it lights up continuously when the connection is successful, and the battery indicator is indicated by a red light and a white light on the button. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began its design in January 2020, and completed the design of the appearance and mechanism in March 2020. At present, the basic electrical performance research and development and institutions are ready and can be made into finished products. The project won the iconic awards : innovative interior in November 2020; and the muse design award in April 2021. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Tao is based on the design image of the dawu culture of taiwan, using a combination of aluminum alloy with hairline surface treatment and a variety of plastic materials to echo the image to be conveyed by the design. Because of the unique curves, ultrasonic bonding is used in assembly technology. The sound effect uses a full range speaker unit with a clear bass effect, and is equipped with a bass vibrating membrane to give a level of sound performance. In today's rapid era of information explosion, people can find a lot of information on the Internet, but they will not specifically search for specific information. With this starting point, we try to use the objects used in life to transmit signals, hoping to use the vocabulary of design to inform the public that there are many beautiful cultures that can be understood and respected. CHALLENGE: Translating abstract cultural connotations into practical design vocabulary and conforming to products used in life is the primary challenge we face. We try to overcome and guide users to understand with vision and touch.
