| DESIGN NAME: Qingdao Steel Fortress PRIMARY FUNCTION: Conceptual Showroom INSPIRATION: Designers of SNP always adhere to the design philosophy that city cannot evolve without history. So they dealt with industrial heritages carefully , made every effort to preserve urban residents memories and restated city history in the space narration. Designers reserved pre-existing red brick when used anodised aluminium, a new type construction materials.The integration of classic elements and advanced materials delivered massive historic implication and generated urban vitality. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The former location had several plants and industrial equipment, SNP Group tended to transform this place from a industrial district into a steel fort theme park on the basis of retaining building original character. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The first floor is temporary exhibition hall and the second floor acts as main exhibition area. The open staircases in public area play a role in public activities. To meet mixed needs of the modern society, designers introduced new business forms like catering and cultural creativity .
