| DESIGN NAME: The Mystery of the Universe PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring INSPIRATION: Huizhen Zheng’s works inspired by the world's natural unsolved mystery, the Light of Hesdalen, which representing the unexplained natural phenomena, but also the mystery of the universe. Through the ring, the Mystery of the Universe reveals a natural phenomenon that people cannot create or explain. The Mystery of the Universe was born from the designer’s understanding and speculation on the universe and the nature, as well as her respect for the nature. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The seemingly flowing texture of the metal of the work shows the state of Hesdarren light indefinite shape and constant change, inlaid with different shapes and sizes of gems that represent the Hesdaran light shining with unusual light. The appearance of the work looks very far like a scale, reminiscent of the ancient Egyptian death Anubis used the balance to "weigh the heart" of the dead, the balance symbolizes the ancient Egyptian view of life and death, the ancient Egyptian concept of life and death is also corresponding to the "The Mystery of the Universe". OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The ring has a variety of wonderful features such as flowing metal lines, emerging titanium materials, and gems of different colors, shapes, and sizes that symbolize the richness, diversity and infinity of the universe PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was finished in June 2021 in Guangdong |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Developed in the 3D Matrix program for the jewellery industry based on the Rhinoceros program, a 3D model was created. After the work were grown by prototyping on a 3D printer from wax, the cast was made in titanium. They were processed by hand and polished with jewellery threads, for the perfect shine of the gems and showing their cut, clarity and colour. After that, 266 zircons were fixed into the base product and the work was colored.
