| DESIGN NAME: Buddy PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pethouse INSPIRATION: The inspiration was to create your own exterior kennel for cats. During the creation and production of the assignment, several proposals emerged. Pethouse Buddy is a transformation of the original product designed for the interior. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Buddy booth, designed for cats and smaller dogs, offers a quality place to relax for its four-legged friends. The intention was to create a new furniture element that would bring joy not only to pets, but also to their owners. In addition to a stylish booth for your dogs or cats to relax, you can also use it as a storage shelf or bedside table. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The low pethouse Buddy serves as a shelter for small breeds of dogs. The high version of the Buddy pethouse is a crib for the cat. Cleaning the pethouse is easy, the top plate can be removed and the shed can be vacuumed. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2020 in Bratislava and finished in April 2021 in Bratislava. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Buddy booth is manufactured from solid oak, veneered mdf and you can find it in both low and higher versions. The low variant fits like a shell for dogs and the higher one for cats. The booths design is formed as simple lines with rounded corners, which make the high-quality processing of the raw material stand out. Special attention was paid to the details of the perfectly machined construction, so that it is sufficiently stable. The removable magnetic top provides wide user comfort even when cleaning. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions: 600 x 350 x 420 (mm), Weight: 17 kg Dimensions: 600 x 350 x 500 (mm), Weight: 18 kg Dimensions: 600 x 350 x 800 (mm), Weight: 19 kg TAGS: buddy, pethouse, oak, furniture, solid wood, wood, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Probably the most important part of the research was the production of a prototype. It was not an aesthetic design, but above all a test of the functionality and ergonomics of the animals. The biggest problem was the stability of the high version with animal activity. This problem was solved by changing the center of gravity of the object. CHALLENGE: Pethouse is basically a simple carpentry product. The most difficult problem was the properties of solid wood. Therefore, the whole product cannot be full wooden and the bottom and top must be solved with veneered mdf board. The bottom must also be resistant to liquids.
