DESIGN NAME: Stock and Financial Instruments
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Designers Guide
INSPIRATION: The idea came from my own experience working for a financial institution (as a designer) that did not provide special courses on the financial market topic. I have gathered most of the terminology and consulted with an Economic Ph.D. Moreover, on the polish market, there is no such publication that combines the design basics and financial knowledge for all those who are interested in data visualization for stock markets, etc.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This book constitutes a compendium of theoretical and practical knowledge in the range of designing visual information for stocks and financial instruments, stock markets analysis, and any other related. This guidebook is a synthesis of two knowledge branches, that is data visualization and the basics of financial markets. It was designed with all the novice designers who decide to start working for any financial company in mind. To broaden their knowledge and show other designer's perspective.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The book is a knowledge compendium on the topics of data visualization in the context of visualizing for financial markets.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2020, printed in May 2021
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The book is hard covered, covered in textile (so it is more durable and will also give a high aesthetic look). Insides are made with Munken Lynx Smooth 120g/m2 – so that the color of the graphic does not show through to other pages.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: To define a problem I have used Design Thinking methods. This way I have found a problem, then the reason it happens, described the problem and potential users. In the next step, I have clarified the users, tried to understand their needs. Finally had to find a way to solve the given problem and a medium that eventually was a printed book.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was to gather all the data and information so that the book finally gives a quick understanding on the both topics.
