DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Proposal For A New Life

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Residential Interior Design

INSPIRATION:
The monotonous space is transformed into one that is both adaptable and open. By redesigning the space and its flow, not only does the space look more spacious, but more room can be put to use. Inspired by the owners’ profession and dressing style, our design team has made drastic changes in the layout and spatial arrangement. With cultured stone, blue hardwood walls and made-to-order line lamps on the wall, a distinctive, brand-new living space is customized.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The couple who own the old apartment, both of them lawyers, wish to realign its space in hopes that the new spatial layout can be in marked contrast with the old. The monotonous space is transformed into one that is both adaptable and open. By redesigning the space and its flow, not only does the space look more spacious, but more room can be put to use. Inspired by the owners’ profession and dressing style, our design team has made drastic changes in the layout and spatial arrangement.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The use of another material signals a transition into the living room and serves to fashion an open view of the entrance and division of functions. Tawny-glass belts overhead cleverly conceal the partition beam. The TV wall of cultured stone and striped hardwood partition walls of classical blue make for a modern feel of being composed, solid and neat. The blue exterior walls of the study, along with transparent glass, allow for openness that extends the sense of space. Line lamps are built irregularly and at random in the walls, which not merely makes up for the insufficient light but is a highlight that gives the space an avant-garde look.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
New Taipei City

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The visitor is greeted with mosaic tiles of metallic luster paved on the hallway at the entrance. Despite the short distance from another building and thus insufficient natural light, on the balcony, imported Moru patterned glass ushers in natural light, thereby retaining both transparency and privacy.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
100 square meter

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The one-piece systems cabinet in the study is different from conventional cabinetry in that it has door panels that can not only be moved freely but is ideal for both display and storage. Its adaptability further enriches gradations of the wall. The slanted ceiling and walls of the same color tone, together with direct lighting from an atrium-like source, ingeniously reorient visual perception and enhance indoor light.

CHALLENGE:
The hardwood sliding door of the storage cabinet echoes the hardwood ceiling above the dining table, thus significantly softening the sense of oppression from the beam in the public area, and diverting one’s attention to the black suspended iron shelf, as well as the displayed collection and plants on it. The texture of hardwood adds warmth to the place.
