DESIGN NAME: Shin Tay Yuan
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Decal Paper Tourism Factory
INSPIRATION: Yingge used to be a major ceramic town in Taiwan, but it has been through the problems of population and industry relocation. Shin Tay Yuan is a 50-year-old company in Yingge. Through the revitalization program with regional characteristics design of Taiwan Design Research Institute, googoods uses a modernized space and a simplified process of communication to let the public can easily understand the ceramic decal industry, and find the professionalism of the factory, and feel the value of the product. The most important thing is that people begin to value the quality of life because of these articles for daily use.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Factory materials are used. The punched-plate is immediately seen when entering the entrance. In addition to modifying the original space decoration, the design concept also comes from the screen printing. It is one of the important tools in the applique process, and it is also used in hanging partitions and indicating systems. When making ceramic decals, the utensils are stacked on wooden boards for easy operation, which is a common scene in ceramic factories, and it is transformed into the counter. The white space with white T-shirt at the entrance is like the white porcelain before the decals. The founder said: “The decals are like the printing on a white T-shirt. googoods have also extended the products to interior design, such as the table use of tiles and tableware used on site.”
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: For the company introduction, we extracts several important time points and milestones through images, jumping out of the stiff performance and mechanical narrative of literal contents. There are two processes: external and internal. The external process is to allow the guests to understand and achieve communication. By simplification, infographic, and interactive installment, we hope to reduce waste of manpower and increase efficiency. The internal process is to show technical expertise, and let everyone understand the production has not come easily and value each product.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2020 and was completed in January 2021 in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
