PRIMARY FUNCTION: Knee Replacement Surgery
INSPIRATION: With the advent of an aging society, the incidence of osteoarthritis in the elderly population rising sharply.The world health organization (WHO), according to the relevant data joint disease has more than 400 million people around the world at present, the osteoarthritis patients over 100 million in our country. Because of the hand joint replacement surgery technology threshold is relatively high,This robot can let more doctors can grasp difficult operation.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The robot system can automatically locate the osteotomy and avoid the injury to the medullary cavity, soft tissue and bone tissue that may be caused by using intramedullary positioning tools in traditional surgery. Patients with less bleeding, less trauma, postoperative knee function recovery will be faster. At the same time, the robot is combined with the unique internal axis knee prosthesis, force line inaccuracy and joint dislocation caused by the technical problems of conventional surgery.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Surgeon inputs knee CT image data, through the touch screen to define basic operation area, the robot system will automatically set up 3D model, doctors will operate according to the robot's image guidance, installation accessories. Robot system will automatically establish cutting path, after surgery, robot system will check the plant material for the body calibration, verification the trajectory of knee-joint and provide the feedback to promote the surgery .These operations will have a robot guidance, easy to use, interface can visual display.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The robot system includes 2 parts: one is robot side, one is control unit and optical detector. We designed the unique structure which combine the optical and control unit to one cart, so that reduce the space cost in the operating room, much smaller than other brand product. Accurate optical navigation system can provide a positioning function,and outstanding algorithm allows make a easy image cuting and operating plan.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In order to make the robots could be more precise, assist the surgeon in the total knee replacement of traditional knee joint replacement surgery , we did a lot of research, including observation and record the process of traditional surgery, visit the senior surgeon, to understand their views and ideas of operation. Our goal is to make similar surgery robot with senior doctors wisdom. After the robot to carry out the operation of experiment, we will compared it with traditional surgical results, then continuous improvement the robot development.
CHALLENGE: Knee joint replacement surgery is a kind of relying on the surgeon experience and knowledge of the surgery, because the skill requirements for surgery is very high, so in many areas.Needs help to lack of experience as a robot doctor smoothly operation there is a lot of challenges.In order to realize high degree of precision assisted surgery, robot system integrates computer algorithms, software, lightweight but high strength mechanical arm.Also, we designed a easy and friendly user interface to let surgeon easy to learn and control.
