| DESIGN NAME: Delight PRIMARY FUNCTION: Vase INSPIRATION: In Delight vase design, contemporary interpretations have been added to traditional Turkish glass forms by establishing a connection with the past. Form has been interpreted more organically with 21st century art and design flavors. Amorphous pieces placed randomly on the glass body were inspired by Turkish delight, one of the traditional Turkish delicacies, and gave the design its name. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Delight vase was designed in a rounded, amorphous structure by adding contemporary interpretations in order to bring a new breath to Turkish glass design. It was designed with inspiration from Turkish delight and produced by the designer by applying the hot glass blowing technique. Transparent-clear glass used and a more elegant spirit is given to the modern form, which is shaped with traces from the past. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The structure of Delight vase design that brings together contemporary and traditional can shed light on the future as modern interpretations of Turkish glass design by collaborating with companies from different disciplines and different sectors.In this way, Turkish glass design can be promoted worldwide and a new bridge can be created. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The exhibition and sales rights of the 'Delight' vase designer are managed under the brand name of Usta Design since 2020. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Delight vase design, blown by the designer with the hot glass technique. After the basic form is given, inspired by Turkish delight, glass pieces are cut in different shapes and combined with the body while it is hot. After the shaping process was completed, the cooling process was carried out and finally the mouth part was cut in a bias form. Since the mold is not used during the construction of the design, each production is handcrafted and unique. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The design measures 15 cm x 15 cm x 35 cm. Since it is a glass material, it is packed with bubble wrap and rigid foam. TAGS: Glass, Glass Design, Glass Carafe, Functional Glass, Delight Vase RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Library and internet resources related to traditional glass forming methods and functional Turkish glass forms used in the past were searched. By evaluating the data obtained as a result of these researches, various sketches were drawn with the modern interpretation of the designer and the 'Delight' vase design was created. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of the Delight vase design has been more about marketing than the technical construction phase. The biggest obstacle is that a certain audience that likes and wants to buy is not used to a design that is both functional and very stylish. With a conventional perception, the prejudice has been encountered that a functional design should only be intended for use and that a very stylish design that goes beyond taboos should only be displayed on display shelves. These taboos have begun to collapse with the return of technology, the more inclusion of social media in life and the changing fashion perception.
