| DESIGN NAME: Anonymousociety PRIMARY FUNCTION: Social Critique Design INSPIRATION: This project started with some moments Yan Yan had been through. Who is the real me? Is it the one shown under people’s eyes, or the one hidden away from people’s gaze? Am I shaped by other people's gaze, or am I shaped by myself? People now live in a world that's overly exposed to social media, reality TV shows, and YouTube. Society forces people to unwillingly expose themselves, regardless of whether they are in public or in private. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Anonymousociety is a social critique design project. In this project. Yan Yan created a non-existent secret organization named Anonymousociety. Anonymousociety wants to create a safe house where people can hide from the spotlights, escape from the attention, and let go of themselves. While creating this project, she was using a mockumentary-perspec OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The audience can review this project by reading the magazine, looking at the posters or browsing the website. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project took 6 months in San Francisco to finish, The world of Anonymousociety is still expanding. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Social Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This project is a web-based and print-based project. The main content are staying online as a website and show as posters and book. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: - TAGS: Social Critique Design, Social Impact Design, Social Surveillance, Performance Identity RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The main challenge for the designer is to develop her creative thinking methodology. After about half of a year's learning and testing, she understood herself more and found a way of thinking and making. Design is the truth she uses to explore the world and observe the internal universe. Her works are expanding experimental possibilities and fictionalizing certain scenarios to address contemporary social behavior. Through a systematic and hypothetic lens, her works inspire contemplation and empower her audience to reflect. |
