| DESIGN NAME: So Logic PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Table INSPIRATION: When we first started our business, we looked for a good size table, that allow us to meet with customers, work with comfort and space, and fill the space gracefully. We were looking for a wood table, easy to transport and made of any organic material, preferably, wood. We which for something natural, simple, ecological and sustainable material, as well as, elegant. Since we didn't find a table to match our needs, we decided to design our own table. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The most remarkable property of this table is the fact that a standard-size of plywood sheet is enough to accomplish the table. With simple cuts and without any wood waste, the table allows a straightforward assembly. Without needing screws, nails or glue, the table is produced in a record time of 15 minutes. To assembly the tabletop and feet, no more than 1 minute is needed.The table is not only easy to assemble, but also easy to set up a settle of tables. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We work with local artisans to improve the first scratches and accomplish the final artwork. The aim was to get an elegant table at a minimal price. We started with a square shape, and we realized that cutting a circular tabletop allowed us to take advantage of all the leftovers of the plywood board and, with them, make the table legs. Then, we idealized how all the pieces fit together easily. We also found that production time was minimal: less than 16 minutes were needed. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project for So Logic started in November 2020. The prototype was made in December and was installed and tested in our Azores office, since then. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The drawing was done using Autocad program and once done, the information was transmitted to the CNC laser cut used for all woodcuts. In about 15 minutes, we had the table ready. The production followed a fast and straightforward process. No screws, nails or glue were needed. Once cut, we assembly the table feet and put the top over. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Snap table. Height of 700 mm. Circular top with 1200 mm in diameter. Total table width: 1250 mm. Parts thickness: 18 mm. TAGS: multifunctional table, table for events, versatile table, wooden table, easy assembly table, So arquitetos, So logic RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We tried to find a way to create a collection of contemporary pieces made in sustainable and organic materials at an affordable price. We wanted something simple to do, easy to assemble and light enough to be easily transported. We prefer endogenous materials from the Azores islands, which are easily found and that nature creates and renews. The sustainability of all our projects is critical to us, as we live in an extremely natural and preserved environment. But it is equally essential to involve the local industry and present artisans with new possibilities that combine know-how with creativity and innovation. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to manufacture a meeting or worktable, either for dinner or for decoration purposes, easy to assemble and dismantle, in organic and sustainable material, at the lowest possible production price, versatile, which adapts to any environment. NAME: SÓ Arquitetos PROFILE: Só Arquitetos is a start-up business that joins a task force of architects and designers. All of us have grown, lived, and now choose to work, in a unique place on earth, called the Azores Archipelago. After graduate and work abroad, we all realized that our native Archipelago has all we were searching for. Having that recorded on our mind and craved on our soul, we asked ourselves, why choose another place to work and live if the nature and the quietness of our native land give us the inspiration we need? Thanks to technology, there's no need to remain working in crowdy urban centres or cope with highly stressful environments. We felt that it is possible to be far away from urban city centres and still keep improving and progressing. After all, if there's a will, there's a way and by stimulating worldwide collaborative partnerships, involving foreign colleagues is a pleasant and challenging possibility. We carry out diverse projects, from architecture to interior design. We find ourselves willing to develop new concepts and design pieces that can enhance be stimulating, useful, bring originality, and functionality, to day to day life. Aside from the need to express and develop our creative side, we are driven by a sustainable concern that we fight deeply to print on every project we deliver. |
