DESIGN NAME: Visions Of Future
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Digital Installation
INSPIRATION: Our task was to represent Alfabank as a bank of the future. We thought that such a bank should surround its client with services that make life more comfortable. We tried to deliver this idea through an interactive experience where the user is the center of everything. Our inspiration comes from the idea itself and computer vision tools that are available today.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design concept takes the user and puts it into the center of the idea. We used optical sensors to create a connection between the user and the digital environment. The architectural approach had a unique feature — a combination of LED screen blocks, glass blocks, neon lights, and frames.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Installation is sensitive to the presence of the user. Once it captures the user one of the 5 scenarios is activated randomly. It plays for a certain amount of time and then switches to the next scene. Scenarios are played one by one in a cycle until the user goes out of the interaction area.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Architecture: we were focused on mixing different kinds of light sources (screens, lightboxes, and neon signs) together with the textures and materials of the booth (concreed, glass, black mate woods) to get a fresh minimalistic look and feel. Technology: we used a combination of two different software. Unity — to get the depth map from Kinect and Ventuz — for real-time visualization.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: We used 2 servers to run the installation. Unity server was processing data from Kinect and transferred it to Ventuz server which was used for real-time visualization and lightboxes control via DMX. Render Layout was configured in a way that the content was rendered in resolution 2880 x 1536 px, 60 fps, and displayed on the video wall with the Full HD resolution without loss of quality.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We entered the job, having no other info but the client's message — "as a bank we do not have any unique technologies to show on the exhibition, but we want you to represent us as a bank of future". Our approach was to create 5 manifests, that represent the future in different ways. All manifests were united with the idea that services should be around the user making life more comfortable. We put the user in the center and surround it with 5 interactive scenarios with real-time abstract graphics.
CHALLENGE: The most complex part of this project was keeping a proper balance between entertainment and conveying an idea. For each scenario, we had to make prototypes and tests to see whether it works or not.
