| DESIGN NAME: Online PRIMARY FUNCTION: Writing Desk INSPIRATION: The design of the writing desk was inspired by graphic ornaments and geometric shapes. The idea was to create architectural form with different surface levels and different materials. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Online is a modern writing desk aimed at those, who look for a comfortable and cozy workspace. A black line divides the table top into two parts from different materials. At the back there is a flap from natural wood. The white section on left side can slide forwards as an inverted drawer and reveal a storage compartment. On the right, ones eye catches a wooden decoration, which appears to be hiding a small box for desk essentials, such as a pen, an eraser or maybe a candy or two. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: A black line divides the table top into two parts from different materials. The section at a front can slide forwards like an inverted drawer and reveal a storage compartment. On the other side there is a wooden decoration, with a small box for desk essentials underneath it. At the back there is a flap from natural wood. The compartment underneath it can be used to organize various cables. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project location is Vilnius, Lithuania. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Biggest white part of writing desk is made from coated MDF. Smaller part is from natural oak board. Square ornament is cut by CNC. Other details and desk legs - powder coated steel. The white section at a forefront symbolizes an empty sheet of paper ready to be filled with new thoughts and ideas. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to combine geometric shapes, materials, details and function that could interact together harmoniously and also would be comfortable to use.
