DESIGN NAME: Gradient Ramp
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Tape
INSPIRATION: I get my inspiration from gradient.Tape is a stationery that many people often use.Because the tape is too thin.Everyone who uses tape has a problem with not finding the cut.We combine the principle of gradient with tape.You can easily find the tape cut through the color difference.Our motivation was to design a tape that was easier to use.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a sellotape with a unique color. What is unique about it is what it does. It is a tape made of gradient. After using the tape, due to the gradient characteristics of the cut after use will form a color difference. So that users find the transparent tape incision, easy to use.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: First pick up the tape. Second, look for areas where the color difference is very pronounced. Third, use tape. Finally, after using the tape, the tape incision and tape will directly produce obvious color difference, convenient for people to find, so that the next use is more simple.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2020 in Milan and finished in February 2021 in that place, and was exhibited in China in February 2021.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: No plasticizer PVC film based material, with good low temperature resistance, good initial viscosity, easy punching and cutting molding.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In the past decade, the production of rubber belt has maintained an upward trend, with the output rising from 10.03 billion square meters in 2007 to 21.86 billion square meters in 2016. The industry scale is expanding continuously, and the market prospect is broad. Despite the forward-looking estimates, in 2017, the production of tape reached 23.80 billion square meters, a year-on-year growth of 8.88%. In such a large market, a tape that solves pain points is very promising.
CHALLENGE: This is an innovative design with a complex internal structure, and the machining qualification rate is the biggest challenge encountered by this project.
