| DESIGN NAME: Kitchen Kit - ToGoCollection PRIMARY FUNCTION: Domestic Appliance INSPIRATION: Many people live in confined spaces, primarily in cities, and do not have the space to store five to eight kitchen appliances. This is particularly noticeable among the younger generation, who increasingly lives in shared flats. In kitchens, one often notices that many appliances are visibly standing around on the kitchen counter, which often looks untidy and restless. Hence the motivation to summarise at least some of the features of various products and also to create a calmer perception in the kitchen. be sustainable - small living spaces - less devices UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: ToGoCollection: The aim was to generate a sustainable, multifunctional and compact product for the kitchen on the topic of household. A targeted bundling of products that are required during mixing for cooking and baking. A sustainable, lockable and transportable device that is charged inductively and can be used flexibly in different locations (e.g. at home, in shared flats, in the camper). A product that combines the main features of a hand blender and a hand mixer (including the technical interior): mixing (handmixer) and chopping (hand blender) of soft and solid substances. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Kitchen Kit consists of: a case with handle, a charging station, a case insert, a hand blender handle, two attachments with knives, a double whisk, a double kneading hook, a measuring cup, a mixing bowl, an adapter, two charging plugs and a main plug. Everything you need during the cooking and baking process! A compact hardcover case system that is easy to stow away, no more cardboard boxes that fall apart over the years. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project was my final thesis at the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt in 2020. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: PASS IT ON: The simple separation of the housing and the cylinder with all the technology also allows easier repairs and is intended to ensure a more sustainable product. A gearbox and induction coils are provided in the hand blender handle. Exchangeable components (if they are defective) open up a good opportunity for cross-generational use. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The case has a height of 240mm and a diameter of 200mm. The intended materials would be recycled semi-transparent plastic, recycled white plastic and stainless steel. The idea was that the thin semi-transparent cover would make the case look lighter. For the design model of my university thesis, this was not yet possible for one of the first attempts. Normally, a hand blender does not have a gearbox, but only a hand mixer, which also has a larger installation space. When designing the gearbox and calculating the induction coils, a lot of research was done, opinions and help sought from professionals in the field of engineering. CHALLENGE: PASS IT ON: The simple separation of the housing and the cylinder with all the technology also allows easier repairs and is intended to ensure a more sustainable product. The challenge was to make the technology completely removable so that you could put the covers in the dishwasher. A gearbox and induction coils are provided in the hand blender handle. It is inductively charged by the charging station, which is held on the case by magnets - so everything can be carried with one hand. Replaceable components (if they are defective) in the hand blender and the charging station open up a good opportunity for cross-generational use. NAME: Patricia Penelope Huss PROFILE: Patricia Penelope Huss had insights at the Mercedes-Benz Daimler AG, a display manufacturer, a metal foundry, as well as in the industrial design office of RelvaoKellermann, before she studied industrial design at the University of Darmstadt in Germany. During her studies she spent a semester abroad at the ELISAVA in Barcelona, University of Design and Engineering, and a long-term internship at De'Longhi Braun Household GmbH. She has now successfully completed her studies at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. |
