DESIGN NAME: Parachute
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wall Shelf
INSPIRATION: When listening to Coldplay's first album, it suddenly occurred to me to look up the word "Parachute."
It seems that the name "parachute" comes combining the Italian "parare" (to protect) with the French "chute" (to fall).
I thought that was a rather fine name.
I tried to think of devices that protect against falling.

Your coat, your magazine... this protects them from falling.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Parachute was made by sheet metal.
With the colored stripes separated by thin spaces, the graphic design is reminiscent of a modern parachute; this theme is transformed, in a recognisable and aesthetically successful manner, into an original shelf design.
